‘transeternalism’: touching eternity.
The Music Society of the Future (MSF) is on a mission to empower visionary musicians and provide a platform to share their unique voices.
The MSF was founded by flutist and composer Nikka Gershman in the spirit of Gustav Mahler, who held the belief that “tradition is not the worship of ashes, but the preservation of fire.” Through a season of concerts, lectures, and interdisciplinary collaborations, the MSF cultivates a community where the great works of the past stand alongside original compositions and fresh perspectives on the classical canon. We believe that innovation is most meaningful when it grows from a deep understanding of tradition, and that the future of classical music depends on renewing its heritage through imagination, conviction, and uncompromising artistic standards.
Above all, the MSF is devoted to artistic individuality. We champion expressive musicianship over convention and collaboration over hierarchy. Inspired by the ideal of the Gesamtkunstwerk (‘total work of art’), we seek to dissolve boundaries between disciplines, create transformative experiences for audiences, and cultivate a new generation of artists devoted not merely to the performance of music, but to transeternalism — touching eternity through art.
